Introduction
TDS, or Tax Deducted at Source, is a critical component of salary processing in every organisation.
However, there may be specific users or groups of users in your organisation, such as interns, consultants, or temporary staff, who should not be included in the TDS calculation due to the nature of their engagement or contractual terms.
uKnowva HRMS offers a straightforward way to manage such exceptions directly through its TDS calculator configuration.
By excluding specific users or user groups from TDS deductions, organisations can ensure accurate payroll management while remaining compliant with internal financial policies.
This article guides you through the process to configure these exclusions in just a few simple steps.
Step 1: Access the TDS Calculator Plugin
To begin, log in to your uKnowva HRMS account using your administrative credentials.
Once you're logged in, click on your profile icon located in the top-right corner of the screen.
From the dropdown list, click on the uKnowva Configuration menu to access the setup options.
In the configuration panel, navigate to the Plugin Manager.
You can either scroll through the list of installed plugins or use the search bar to find the TDS Calculator plugin.
Once located, click on it to open its configuration pop-up, where you can make the necessary adjustments for TDS exclusions.
Step 2: Exclude Users or User Groups from TDS
Inside the TDS Calculator configuration pop-up, you’ll find options to exclude users from TDS in two different ways.
The first method is by User Group. If you want to exclude an entire group of users, go to the Exclude User Group field and select the user group from the drop-down menu.
From here, select the appropriate group, such as interns, contractors, or consultants, based on how your user groups are defined within the system.
Alternatively, if you need to exclude an individual user rather than a group, select the Exclude User option.
Start typing the name of the specific user in the field provided, and the system will suggest matching users.
Select the appropriate user from the list and click on Save to finalise the exclusion.
If you change your mind or need to discard your changes, you can click the Cancel button to exit the configuration pop-up without applying any changes.
Conclusion
That’s it!
You’ve now successfully excluded users from TDS in uKnowva HRMS.
By following this process, you ensure that only eligible employees are considered for TDS deductions based on your organisation’s specific requirements.
This feature provides a flexible and efficient way to maintain compliance without unnecessary deductions for non-taxable individuals or groups.
