Introduction
The Selfie feature in uKnowva HRMS allows you to capture an employee’s selfie as part of the Virtual Biometric Check-In process. Before employees can use this feature, an administrator needs to make sure that the Selfie profile field is published in the system. Once the profile field is published, it becomes available for use with the selfie-based attendance functionality.
In this tutorial, we will walk through the steps to locate the Selfie profile field in the uKnowva configuration and publish it so that employees can use the selfie feature while recording their attendance.
Step 1: Access the Profile Fields Manager
To begin, from the top-right corner of the page, click on your profile photo. A list of available options will appear. From this list, select uKnowva Configuration.
The uKnowva Configuration page will open with different configuration options available in the side navigation panel. From the side menu, click on Profile Fields Manager.
This section contains the profile fields configured in your uKnowva HRMS instance and allows you to manage their settings.
Step 2: Locate the Selfie Profile Field
After opening the Profile Fields Manager, you can filter the available profile fields to locate the one required for the selfie feature. From the profile field category options, select Virtual Biometric Check In and click on the Search button.
The system will display the profile fields available under the selected category. Locate the Selfie profile field from the results.
Step 3: Publish the Selfie Profile Field
You can publish the profile field directly from the Profile Fields Manager list. Locate the Selfie field and click on the X icon displayed in the same row under the Published column.
This will publish the profile field without opening its complete configuration.
Alternatively, once you find the Selfie profile field, click on the Edit button available for that field.
This will open the profile field configuration in edit mode.
In the configuration pop-up, locate the Published toggle button. Enable the toggle to publish the Selfie profile field. Publishing the field makes it available in the system for the functionality that uses it.
After enabling the Published option, review the setting and click on the Save button to apply the changes.
Make sure the Selfie profile field is published before proceeding to the next step, as you will need to select this field while configuring the Virtual Biometrics plugin.
Step 4: Check the Virtual Biometrics Plugin
Once the Selfie profile field is published, make sure the Virtual Biometrics extension is available in your uKnowva HRMS instance. The plugin automatically sets and uses the published Selfie profile field, so you do not need to configure any additional settings manually.
If the Virtual Biometrics extension is not available in your system, you can install it from the uKnowva Extension Store. After installing the extension, the system will automatically use the published Selfie profile field for the punch-in selfie functionality.
